A Short Summary

Madras Photo Bloggers is a community of photography enthusiasts based in Chennai, India. Since 2017, they have been organizing various events such as photo contests, workshops, photo walks, exhibitions, and panel discussions, in collaboration with different partners and sponsors.
Over the years, they have covered a wide range of topics such as street photography, seascape photography, food styling, mobile photography, and architectural heritage, among others. Some events were exclusively for women, while others were open to all, including the deaf community.
The latest events conducted in 2022 included a photo contest, a heritage photo and video contest, heritage photo walks, a museum trail, a Madras Day photo exhibition, an architectural heritage photography tour, and an inclusive art and photo exhibition.
The events were organized in association with various partners and sponsors, including Sony Alpha, Zeiss, National Geographic, and Airtel Payments Bank, among others. Overall, Madras Photo Bloggers provided a platform for photography enthusiasts to showcase their skills, learn from industry experts, and explore the rich heritage and culture of Chennai.

2016-2018:

Various photography events, workshops, and contests that took place in Chennai in 2017 and 2018. These events include –
2017 – Events conducted at The Phoenix Market City, The Madras Fest, and LocalIGHTS, as well as an Instawalk at Kosapet. The events featured photography contests, such as “Travel with Nizhal” and “Hilarity NN,” and also had various sponsors, including News7Tamil, Modernize, and Zeiss. One of the events mentioned was the “Takkaru Thiruvizha,” which was part of The Madras Fest celebration. Additionally, LocalIGHTS celebrated the unsung heroes of Madras.
2018– The “LocalIGHTS Celebrating the Unsung Heroes of Madras” sponsored by Zeiss, as well as the Holi Photowalk, Seascape Photo Walk, and Madras Analog Photo Walk, sponsored by Shristi Digi Life, Manfrotto Imagine More, and Kit Karma respectively. The Madrasapattinam 379 exhibition and heritage walks, such as the Royapettah Heritage Walk and Mount Road Heritage Photo Walk, were also featured, along with the Fest Graph event sponsored by Arimugham and Airtel Payments Bank. The Chance – Ey Illa photography contests, as well as a Seascape Photography Workshop, were also hosted by Haida. The Times of India also sponsored several events, including the Flowers and Photography – A Chance – Ey Illa Celebration and the Got Some Chance – Ey Illa Chennai Stories event.

A Short Bio

Madras Photo Bloggers is a Chennai-based organization that promotes photography as a passion and serves as a community for photographers, inclusivity for the deaf and differently abled, bloggers, and history enthusiasts. Led by travel photographer Srivatsan, we provide opportunities for open interactions, mentorship, and mutual learning through brand association. Uplifting the deaf community, exclusive photography programs are designed to uplift the deaf community by providing them with a platform to grow as independent photographers.
