The bright colored red roses, fragrant rich jasmines, freshly blossomed lotus, sunkissed marigold attracts the eyes of many residing in Chennai as it’s our #nammachennai’s flower fantasy land situated in the Badrian street or locally named Poo Kadai theru, Parrys corner (Pari Munai). Situated adjacent to Parrys Bus stop, NSC Bose Road, this street has all colors of flowers of your choice for any occasion at affordable rates available fresh as this place acts as the central hub to distribute and supply flowers to other parts of Chennai. In an urban city jammed with vehicles and multicomplexes, this place is a bliss if you pay to visit at the early morning after sunrise, exclusively photographers!! Keeping all these lines in mind, Madras Photo bloggers, hosted a ‘Street Photography workshop’ on 20th April between 6 and 8 am. The participants were introduced to the basics of street photography before experimenting it in real time. Once the discussion was done, they were let to freeze the moments, portraits and out of two, daily lifestyle was on the top of the list. As the clock ticked 8am, each of the photos were reviewed and given positive feedback. Further which the importance of black and white images, composition, decisive moments and conquering the fear of street photography, the importance of 1/3 rule, white balance and program mode were discussed in detail as a takeaway. Street photography isn’t always about the people and places but the atmosphere, background, food, emotions, and dialogues! Capturing all of these within a time frame and proper lighting conveys a story, a message or a memory. If you ever get a chance to receive constructive feedback from key experts specialized in street photography, how would you feel? “The team was quite helpful and many of the technical aspects were explained in detail. The review session towards the end made me feel contented” says Jai Ganesh, one of our enthusiastic participants during our PariMunai Street Photography workshop. I patiently waited to capture the roses being transferred from one place to another and the truck carrying the vegetables for the day, he says on asking his emotions behind his shots.

Though his portraits exhibited only one color, he tells “people show great enthusiasm when they know they are captured” giving life to his shots.
