Our Initiative:
‘A silent way to learn’ is an initiative introduced exclusively for deaf individuals, in line with International Sign Language Day 2020 by Madras Photo Bloggers. As part of this special initiative, we have launched a basic photography course for those in the hearing-impaired community who are underprivileged and lack access to the right resources.
The Objective of This Initiative:
We plan to target 500+ students across India to undertake the course. The students have a trained sign language interpreter for ease of communication alongside the photography course. We provide both theory and practical sessions intended for confidence to interact with people apart from equipping the right platform to learn and practice Photography in a structured manner. Students attending the course will significantly identify their photography talent with the added advantage of meeting people with shared experiences and challenges. Our main goal with this initiative is to help these students nurture their talent as independent Photographers, without the pressure of their physical hurdle coming in the way of their training. This initiative assists to enhance entrepreneurial opportunities, financial independence and long-term sustainability. So far, we have trained more than 70 deaf students and provided access to better job opportunities.
